Hokianga
The great sand dunes on the north side of the Hokianga Harbour entrance opposite Omapere and Oponini. Great fun for walking, sand boarding or horse riding.

North Head sand dunes seen from South Head through the fronds of the native flax bush.

Ever since the time of Kupe, the white headland on the North side of the Harbour entrance has contrasted with the dark headland on the South side.

North Head dominates the view at Opononi and Omapere. Lots of fun for walking, sand boarding, or horse trekking
