On Monday 7th June 2010 at 4.00 pm the Hokianga Historical Society will close the doors of its museum on SH12 to the public. After 22 years, the building has been declared dangerous and has to be emptied by June 17th.

This means the Museum will go into recess over the winter. There have been several hold-ups on plans for its new building but we hope that by the beginning of the summer season we will come alive again in our new site alongside the Opononi Area School.
