Tane Mahute, Lord of the forest.

Mangungu Mission House near Horeke, at the top of the Hokianga Harbour. Site of the largest single signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840.

Whilst you are there, visit the Horeke Tavern, the second oldest licensed tavern in New Zealand, and visit Wairere Boulders to view massive basalt boulders from an ancient lava flowed that have been deeply etched by the runoff from Kauri trees.
